I have lived here in Plano for 33 years, so this is not a business I set up to serve strangers in a market I read about. I have spent my working life on both sides of technology: building it, and depending on it to run a business. That combination is the reason I do this work the way I do.

I founded and ran Audiophile Music Group, an independent Texas record label, for a decade. More than 500 releases across five imprints, a team of four, and no outside investment. Being the owner meant I did the books, the inventory, the vendor contracts, the licensing and the reporting myself. When something broke on a Sunday night, there was nobody else to call.

These days I trade equities and derivatives and manage a $15M portfolio, and I built the research and analytics tools I use every day to do it. Live market data, heavy calculation, and no tolerance for a number that is wrong or stale.

Everything I know about technology I taught myself, because in both of those jobs there was never anyone else to hand it to. Networks, computers and printers that had to keep working. Microsoft Office and Google Workspace inside and out, because the whole business ran on the documents and spreadsheets. Adobe products for artwork, layout and photography. Bitwig and the audio side for the records. Then databases, APIs and the code behind the trading tools. None of it came from a class. It came from needing it to work by Monday.

That is why none of this comes with a lecture. I remember being the person who did not know, and I know most of it is not obvious. So I will explain what happened in words that make sense, then write it down before I leave.
